Meet The Staff

Dr. George KahdyDr. George Kahdy is the founder and co-owner of Riverwood Veterinary Clinic; he has practiced veterinary medicine for more than 40 years. Most of his career has been spent at Wake Veterinary Hospital in Knightdale. He now enjoys working side-by-side with his daughters, Kathryn and Kristin. Dr. George and his wife, Martha, have been blessed with two daughters (Dr. Kathryn Kahdy and Dr. Kristin Kahdy Broadwell). Their daughters grew up on a farm with cattle, horses, goats, and donkeys in Shotwell. They learned from their experiences as well as from Dr. George’s love for animals. Dr. Kahdy is a 4th degree black belt in Karate and a 1st degree black belt in Ju-Jitsu. He also teaches a women’s self defense class at Rex Health Care to contribute to the community.

Dr. Kathryn KahdyDr. Kathryn Kahdy is the other co-owner of Riverwood Veterinary Clinic. She graduated from North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Her aspirations to become a veterinarian started when she was a child helping on the family farm and going on large animal farm calls with her father, Dr. George Kahdy. Dr. Kathryn practiced at Wake Veterinary Hospital her first year out of veterinary school, then took a job in Massachusetts for 2.5 years, and has been at Riverwood since November 2011. During her work experience, Dr. Kathryn has developed a personal interest in educating clients on preventative and wellness care for their pets, and also has a strong interest in Internal Medicine. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt and son, Mallie, their dog, Chip and two cats, Wahoo and Ozzy. Some of Dr. Kathryn’s hobbies are competitive powerlifting, cooking and traveling.

Dr. Kristin KahdyDr. Kristin Kahdy grew up loving all animals naturally following in her father’s and sister’s footsteps. There were many occasions where she frequented her father’s veterinary practice growing up, and her love and passion for medicine grew out of admiration of her father’s work. It was not until she adopted her first dog “Duke,” learning how strong the human animal bond was, that she made the decision to attend veterinary school herself. Dr. Kristin graduated from the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011, and then furthered her education by completing a one year Emergency and Small Animal Medicine rotating internship in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dr. Kristin returned to the Raleigh area in 2012 and has been enjoying the preventative care, and soft tissue surgery components of veterinary medicine. She is now excited to join her father and sister in the family practice at Riverwood Veterinary Clinic!
