Vaccination Policies

We prioritize the health and safety of all patients, staff, and clients by maintaining appropriate vaccination standards and minimizing the risk of infectious disease transmission within the clinic.

General Requirements:

  • Rabies vaccination. Per North Carolina State Law, all dogs, cats and ferrets must be vaccinated against Rabies by 4 months of age and remain up to date. This is a legal requirement with no medical exemptions.  For any pet scheduled for an appointment, surgical procedure, or inpatient stay, they must be up to date on Rabies.  Rabies vaccine can only be administered by a licensed veterinarian or certified rabies vaccinator. An exam is required for every vaccination.

Requirements for any pet scheduled for a drop-off appointment, surgical procedure, or inpatient stay, the following must be up to date:

  • Dogs: Distemper/Hepatitis/Parvo/Parainfluenza (DHPP) and Bordetella.
  • Cats: Rhinotracheitis/Calici/Panleukopenia (FVRCP)
  • Professional Proof Required: We only recognize vaccines administered by a licensed medical facility.
  • Ineligible Records: Vaccines administered by breeders, pet stores, or at home are not accepted as proof of complete vaccination.  We cannot guarantee that these vaccines were stored, handled or administered correctly.
  • Mandatory Updates: If your pet’s vaccines were not given by a medical professional, or if records are unavailable, we will update the vaccines upon admission to minimize the risk of viral exposure to our other patients.

Recommendations for outpatient appointments:

  • Dogs: Leptospirosis, Lyme, Canine Influenza
  • Cats: Leukemia

These additional vaccines are highly recommended based on individual patient risk assessment and will be discussed  during your appointment.
